***Bully Prevention Week***

October 24- 28

In accordance with the Dignity for All Students Act, The THMS Character Education Committee has planned BULLY PREVENTION WEEK for October  24-28.  Bullying is when someone repeatedly and on purpose says or does mean or hurtful things to another person who has a hard time defending him or herself.  Bullying can take many forms. It can be physical, emotional or social - using words to hurt someone, leaving someone out, or gossiping and spreading rumors.  Cyberbullying is affecting many teenagers. It’s very important to report any bullying situation to an adult. Speak up against bullying!

Welcome to Turtle Hook Middle School

Dr. Humphrey

A message from the Principal

A Message from Dr. Donald Humphrey,
Principal of Turtle Hook Middle School

Greetings THMS Families,
Welcome to the 2016-2017 school year!  I encourage you to take a few moments to explore our NEWLY designed website and familiarize yourself with all the information available.  We continue to utilize our ability to share information electronically through our website.  In addition, our Turtle Hook Families will continue to receive "School Messenger" telephone messages informing you of important events.
The Turtle Hook Administration, Teachers, and Staff are proud to announce that our strong Character Education program has been making a difference.  Turtle Hook Middle School has been recognized for this effort and has been named a National School of Character in addition to being named a New York State School of Character. Our program will continue moving forward to help our children make good choices. There is a  Character Ed Pillar for each month which staff and students spend some time exploring. We encourage our students to embrace the pillars of Character Education and continue to strive to make THMS a safe place for all to coexist together.   Staff and students will discuss how to feel and understand what other people are feeling.

There are many exciting activities going on at THMS.  We are working hard to bring quality programs and to engage all our students in learning.   We continue to emphasize high expectations for achievement, alignment of the New York State Common Core Standards with our curriculum, and enhanced student/teacher engagement. We value our strong relationships with our students and their families.

Enjoy the new school year!
