Turtle Hook Middle School has been named a National School of Character by Character.org, a national organization that supports the advancement of character development in schools, communities, and workplaces across the U.S. and globally. Turtle Hook celebrated this honor at a national forum that was held in Washington, D.C. on October 15, 2016.
This prestigious honor recognizes schools that have demonstrated a dedicated focus on character development programs that show positive impact on academic achievement, student behavior and school climate. Turtle Hook Middle School was one of 68 finalists in the country for this award, which required a site visit and an analysis of the impact its character-related efforts have had at the school.
The award is based on how a school implements the partnership’s 11 Principles of Effective Character Education. National Schools of Character hold their designation for five years. We are honored to have this title and we would like to thank all of you, especially the parents and community members, for continuing to partner with us as we serve as positive role models for all children.
