We are excited to announce the opening of applications for the upcoming UPL Empowerment Academy for Teens! Open to students in Grades 6-12, this unique program offers an engaging mix of academic and creative sessions designed to inspire and cultivate future leaders. Hosted by the Uniondale Public Library in partnership with the Uniondale Union Free School District, participants will have the opportunity to earn up to 15 hours of community service credit and leave the academy with a completed project showcasing their skills. Application Deadline: Friday, July 5th, 6:00 PM. Acceptance Notification: By Tuesday, July 9th. The detailed session schedule includes topics ranging from "Your Future Narrative" to "Graphic Design" and "Health & Wellness", culminating in a special graduation night where students will unveil their future selves. Dear Uniondale Community, I would like to update you on a facilities issue that took place at Uniondale High School today. This morning there was a report of the smell of gas on the third floor of the building. School administrators and the Director of Buildings and Grounds reported to the area immediately to ascertain the cause of the smell and began the process of relocating students and staff from the area. Out of an abundance of caution the decision was made to evacuate the building and contact the Uniondale Fire Department and National Grid to conduct a thorough and comprehensive assessment of the building. They found two HVAC systems that needed to be serviced and a small leak on two of the existing boilers that have since been turned off. It is important to note that the building was cleared for re-entry by both the Fire Department and National Grid. We have put together a plan to address the issues that were uncovered today. The safety of our students and staff is our top priority. If you do have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact my office or Uniondale High School Principal Mr. McCaw's office.
